$400 later (aka “restocking day”) — we price-checked bread at the store and realized we’d easily spend $30–$40 on loaves and pastries alone 😳
My youngest said, “Mom, let’s just go home and make something instead. It’ll be cheaper, better, and healthier.” 💛
That moment right there — she gets it. Budgeting, gratitude, and making the most of what we have.
So we came home, unpacked, dropped our oldest at the train, and got busy:
👩🍳 Koobideh (ground chicken kebab)
🥗 Salad, hummus, tahini, saffron rice
🥣 Cabbage soup for tonight
🥯 Fresh bagels — cheddar, everything, and egg (that look more like bialis, but hey 😂)
While our sandwich and Parmesan loaves rise, I can’t help but smile at what a $5 bag of flour can create — bread, pasta, playdough, memories ❤️
Welcome to our new family tradition: Bakery Sunday — a mix of math, love, and saving money one loaf at a time.
